Last year, I got into using Linux. After a couple of weeks of trying to decide which distro to use, I finally settled on Kubuntu, and setup a dual-boot with Windows 7. The reason I started using Linux in the first place was because I thought it would be cool to learn the command line, and a lot of people said that I should start with either Kubuntu or Ubuntu, since they're both really easy to use. Unfortunately, I found out about a month later that the command line doesn't have much of a purpose in Kubuntu, as it relies heavily on it's GUI. I got bored, and went back to Windows 7. Recently, however, I've become interested in Linux again, but this time I really want a distro that will help me learn the command line. Since I don't know a whole lot about Linux yet, I don't want to jump right into Gentoo or Slackwire. So what's a good compromise for someone who wants to casually learn the command line? I want a middle ground between the GUI I'm used to, and the command line that I want to learn. Thanks!... Read More »
