Resolved Question: How do I get my USB mouse to work in Gentoo Linux?

The device shows up if I type lsusb but doesn't work in the GUI. lsusb brings up 5 devices, the 4th of which is: "Bus 001 Device 004: ID 192f:0416 Avago Technologies, Pte."
