I have a new laptop and have an odd nostalgia moment and would really like to load up Gentoo on another partition. The device shows up if I type lsusb but doesn't work in the GUI. lsusb brings up 5 devices, the 4th of which is: "Bus 001 Device 004: ID 192f:0416 Avago Technologies, Pte." There are more than one "flavor" of Linux, the most popular and easy to use I think is Ubuntu, which is free to download and try out even before installing it, it runs "live" from the disc so there's no sacrifice to try it.
